Our history

The roots of the company go back to the 1980s, when Raw Materials Group started to collect global mining data and built Raw Materials Data, which was developed into a globally competitive source of information.

The consultancy and analysis experience of RMG Consulting also dates back more than 30 years. Our clients include governments, international organisations, major mining companies, junior exploration companies and investment banks. To supplement our internal skills we have built an extensive network of contacts and friends in Europe and its mining hubs in the Nordic countries and Africa. Since the early 2000’s we have focused on expanding the network into China and Japan.

We have worked with the governments of Jamaica, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Botswana, Greenland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Papua New Guinea, Japan. International organisations such as Commission of the African Union, European Commission, UN Economic Commission for Africa, UNCTAD, United Nations University Wider Helsinki, World Bank, EITI Raw Materials, Responsible Mining Index and the Nordic Council.

Corporate clients include equipment suppliers such as Atlas Copco, Sandvik, Weir, Siemens, Schneider, ABB, Michelin, ITT Flygt (Xylem), major mining companies Anglo American, Lundin Mining, LKAB, Boliden, Outokumpu and the international industry organisation ICMM.
